Competition: Nritya Shakti Tour 2016

April 21, 2016

Last week, we partnered with Shakti Mohan to celebrate the power of dance for her Nritya Shakti Tour 2016!

Shakti Mohan is one of the best known Indian Contemporary dance artists in the world. She most recently featured as a judge on ‘Dance Plus’, a dance reality show on Star Plus. Before then, she was the winner of Zee TV’s Dance India Dance Season 2. In 2015, she launched her first Nritya Shakti World Tour, conducting dance classes in Singapore, Malaysia, Chennai, Kolkata, Raleigh, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Paris and Mumbai. From April-May 2016, the Nritya Shakti Tour will see Shakti visiting the USA, Canada and India.

Ahead of the launch of the tour, HaikuJAM partnered with Shakti Mohan for a JAM competition. For 24 hours, thousands of jammers from around the world wrote thousands of short poems around the power of dance. Even Shakti got involved in jamming – you can see her user profile here.

At the end of the day, Shakti selected her favourite JAM. Congratulations to Leela, Smith and Ashar for winning the competition. They are going to receive some tour merchandise signed by Shakti herself! Here’s the winning JAM:

Poetry About Depression

Seeking solace in solitude, I found myself getting lost in my own thoughts and drifting into a spiral of negativity. However, this all eventually passed. Luckily, final exams and a job helped distract my mind and shift focus away from myself.
